Kia Motors has just launched the Sonet X-Line. Ex-showroom prices start from Rs. 13.39 lakh for the 1.0 turbo petrol version and Rs. 13.99 lakh for the 1.5 turbo diesel version. Both variants of the Kia Sonet X-Line are based on the top-end automatic trims. The X-Line trim is a cosmetic upgrade for the Kia Sonet. The X-Line upgrade consists of the following: Matte Graphite paint scheme, Sage dual tone interiors, 16-inch alloy wheels in a new design, grille finished in gloss black and art leather sports seats with orange stitching. The Sonet is one of India’s hottest selling sub-4 meter compact SUVs, and the X-Line trim is meant to keep the vehicle fresh and exciting for festive car buyers.
The petrol powered Sonet X-Line uses the 1 liter-3 cylinder turbocharged unit that puts out 118 Bhp of peak power and 172 Nm of peak torque. A 7 speed twin clutch automatic gearbox accompanies this engine, and drives the front wheels. The diesel powered Sonet X-Line uses the 1.5 liter-4 cylinder turbocharged motor with 115 Bhp-250 Nm outputs. A 6 speed torque converter automatic gearbox is offered with this engine.
As for features, the Kia Sonet X-Line offers the same equipment as the top-of-the-line GT line trim. Automatic LED headlamps, automatic climate control, rear AC vents, a 10.5 inch touchscreen infotainment screen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, multiple driving modes, connected car features, voice commands, steering mounted audio and cruise control, semi-digital instrument cluster, electric sunroof, electrically adjustable and foldable wing mirrors, wireless charging, air purifier and central armrests at the front and rear. As for safety, 6 airbags, ABS, EBD, traction control, hill hold, speed alerts, seat belt reminder, front parking sensors and rear parking sensors with camera are the various features on offer.

Bookings for the 2022 Sonet X-Line are open across all Kia dealerships in India. Customers may also book the SUV online. The Sonet is not the only X-Line model sold by Kia. The Seltos is also offered in X-Line trim. The Seltos is much larger SUV than the Sonet, and is offered with a more powerful 1.4 liter turbo petrol engine. However, the Sonet and Seltos share the same 1.5 liter diesel engine in the top-end trims. The Kia Sonet competes with the Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Maruti Brezza, Renault Kiger, Mahindra XUV300 and Nissan Magnite in the sub-4 meter compact SUV segment. While the Sonet is technically a 5 seater, it’s best used as a four seater as the rear bench can get quite cramped for three adults.
Speaking on the occasion, Myung-Sik Sohn, Chief Sales Officer, Kia India said,
We, at Kia India, are constantly in pursuit of living up to the requirement of modern-age customers through exciting products. With the Sonet X-Line, we have showcased our designing prowess and offered a stylish and differentiated-looking compact SUV that truly complements the exciting exteriors and energetic interiors. With a contribution of over 32 per cent to KIN’s total sales, the Sonet has cemented itself as a segment disruptor and sculpted a niche for itself. We are certain that the Sonet X-Line will elevate the brand’s profile among upwardly mobile, young, and savvy consumers who are seeking a premium and exclusive SUV this festive season.
